Unfolding explores the parts of our inner world that often remain unseen. The elements we carry unconsciously, waiting for space, attention, and stillness. Rather than forcing clarity, this piece reflects the slow, natural process of becoming aware—of sitting with what arises and allowing it to reveal itself over time.
Layers of deep reds, burnt orange, and softened transitions move across the surface with a sense of tension and release. Darker, grounded areas suggest what is hidden or unprocessed, while subtle vertical movements and lighter passages hint at emergence—something beginning to surface, not all at once, but gradually. The composition invites a quiet pause, asking the viewer not to interpret immediately, but to stay with it.
Created using mixed media on 140 lb cold press Strathmore watercolor paper, the surface carries a rich tactile quality. The natural tooth of the paper interacts with the layers of paint, allowing texture and depth to build organically. This gives the work a presence that shifts with light and proximity, revealing more the longer it is observed.
