The Rising Current

Diptych | 76.2 × 55.9 cm each | Mixed Media on 140 lb Cold Press Strathmore Watercolor Paper

There are moments in nature when energy feels almost tangible — the rush of water finding its course, the movement of wind through the landscape, or the feeling of momentum building just before a storm breaks. The Rising Current was inspired by that sense of movement and force, capturing the feeling of energy gathering, expanding, and flowing freely.

Rich layers of crimson, gold, turquoise, and deep blue move across the surface with a sense of rhythm and vitality. The two paintings work together as a single visual conversation, connected by sweeping forms and luminous passages of colour that create a feeling of continuous motion from one piece to the next. The composition feels both dynamic and balanced, inviting the eye to travel through the work and discover new details with each viewing.

Created using mixed media on 140 lb cold press Strathmore watercolor paper, the surface carries a rich tactile quality that enhances the depth and movement within the paintings. Layered textures, expressive mark-making, and subtle transitions of colour create an organic sense of energy that shifts with changing light and viewing distance.

Whether displayed in a living room, dining space, office, or thoughtfully curated interior, The Rising Current brings a sense of vitality, movement, and visual impact to the space — a reminder of the power that emerges when energy is allowed to flow without restraint.

5 Golden Rules for Displaying Your Artwork

  1. Hang at Eye Level
Center your piece 145–155 cm (57–61 in) from the floor — the standard gallery height.
  2. Balance with Furniture
Leave 15–25 cm above sofas, consoles, or headboards for harmony.
  3. Let It Breathe
Choose a wall where the artwork fills about two-thirds of the width beneath it — avoid crowding.
  4. Light with Care
Use soft, indirect or angled lighting. Avoid direct sunlight to preserve color and texture.
  5. Protect & Respect
Dust with a soft, dry cloth, avoid humidity/heat, and handle by the frame — not the painted surface.

Every piece is made not just to decorate, but to transform your space. Trust your instinct — place it where you’ll feel its presence most deeply.
